Richard and Helen Brenneman

From almost the beginning of his involvement in trials in the early 1970’s, Dick Brenneman has been an active handler, and has also been of constant service to various bird dog clubs. He has served as secretary and President of the Grand National Grouse Championship, the Pennsylvania Championship in a number of leadership positions, grounds committee chairman at Marienville for years, and has been the stalwart behind the Barrens Field Trial grounds and the Nittany Valley Bird Dog Club. He has been a constant at workdays at Marienville and The Barrens. He and his long time bird dog partner Bob Watts have been breeding English Setters for decades including champions Ian’s Blue and Star’s Misty Ghost, and in their own kennel 5X Champion Pennstar, 2X Champion Northern Anndee, and Grand National Champions Body Guard and Full Tilt. It is also likely that no one in our history has judged more grouse and woodcock championships than Dick Brenneman and most of the important ones he has judged multiple times. Dick would likely be the first admit that he could not have accomplished what he has without the support of his wife Helen. Helen has also served in leadership positions in clubs, served at work parties, and judged championships herself and she shares this honor.
